Steven J. Cyr, M.D.
Steven J. Cyr, MD graduated Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian with a BS in Biology from Southwest Texas State University. He was also a member of the Bobcat football team during his 3 years in college before gaining early acceptance to medical school. He earned his MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He performed a transitional internship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He was a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force for 2 years before being selected to the Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Wilford Hall, the only Air Force orthopaedic training program in the country.
Dr. Cyr completed spine surgery fellowship training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic- rated the number 1 orthopaedic and neurosurgical training program in the country for the last 12 years. His spine training was performed jointly with both the Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery departments of the Mayo Clinic. He was hand-selected as the only spine fellow from a host of the country’s top graduating orthopaedic surgeons. He was the first spine surgeon in the military to perform the total disc replacement surgery and continues to be at the forefront of spine surgery.
